NOTAM Judges 7:2 The Lord said to Gideon, The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying, My own hand has saved me.
One of my favorite stories of the Bible has to be Gideon. Why you might ask? It deals with Faith, Gideon HAD to have faith to follow the way the Lord lead him. If you don’t know the story of Gideon I would ask you to stop and read it because it’s an amazing story IMO of acting in faith.
When I was learning to fly IFR there were many new concepts I had to learn. One of the more difficult concept was the physical aspect of learning to trust the Instruments over my body and my feelings. This concept is something we learn to overcome with brute force and countless hours of endurance in our training. Here we are flying along and everything is great, we just finished a turn and are now straight and level and according to our instruments we are exactly where we should be, but our body never makes it to straight and level. We can fight thus physically feeling that our body is still turning yet our instruments continue tell us we are level. Believe your body or your feelings and your dead, instead we have to believe the instruments. The more time we spend believing our instruments, the more comfortable we are with ignoring our body’s senses. When we step out in faith it’s much the same way. Our feelings will always lead us in the directions our carnal man wants us to go which is often counter to where Faith will lead us. Take forgiveness for example, If you wait until you feel like forgiving you be along time making the right choices. Instead if we trust our instruments (Holy Spirity, The Word) we will act in faith and the body will obey us later. We must alway choose faith and the Holy Spirit over our body or our emotions if we are to live a life of faith.
NAV LOG: What are the instruments of God telling you today? Are you being lead by emotions or Faith.
PIREP: (Prayer Time) Meditate in your prayer today on Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
